When The Two Israeli Soldiers Were Abducted

I wonder what passes in the minds of those who exactly one year ago crossed the borders near "Aiyta Al Sha'b" at the Shebaa gate, abducted two Israeli soldiers - Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev- and wakened the sleeping monster to a 34-day war that left the Lebanese with 1292 killed of whom the majority are children and women.

The Lebanese were frustrated. Since 14 February 2005, when PM Rafik Hariri was assassinated in a massive explosion near the Phoenecia Hotel, just a short distance from the famous downtown, nothing could be described as normal anymore. Even those who believed in resistance were overburdened with poverty, recession, and political conflicts between the opposition and the government (having reciprocated a few months after the assassination).

For the first time in a decade or more, the media started getting more agressive, more propaganda driven and more and more biased. It seemed as if the political leaders and media representatives were studying hard at George W. Bush dictionary on the idioms of war against terrorism only to direct accusations against each other. The conflict gained resonance in the international community, or is it the opposite? Regionally, Syria and Iran were referred to as the future targets of the US.

The monster was shaken awake at 9:05 am Wednesday morning. But was the monster sleeping anyhow? Is it now?

Why then did an unknown group whose name I can't recall, announce its responsibility for firing a couple of Katyusha's on to Israel two weeks ago? Why did it not inflict the same results as it did a year ago? Or let me rephrase.. Why did it happen now, then, there? Is the conspiracy theory proving itself right?
