Waiting for the PLAN!

Written 8 August 2006

I have a clock in my house just on the table where I could see it, from my eternal spot infront of the TV screen. A very beautiful and expensive one indeed, however very sneaky, for despite its being a very quiet one, it still passes time all the same, with a silent death toll. Tick, tick, tick, I could sense its whisper.

Speech by speech, from Condolezza Rice and the “Yo, Tony” boy, about setting a plan for the future before a call for immediate ceasefire, I looked at my clock in earnst plea, to stop, nevertheless it kept on running its deadly pace, taking along with it the lives of at least five Lebanese by the hour.

I could have broken the clock, or thrown it away, but no. Time would have found its way through the kitchen clock or the one in the neighbors’ apartment. Besides, time is needed to plan a “long-term” solution in the region implemented by both sides. A balanced equation is enough to form a mathematical justice. No complaint. But first, for this equality to be established, the Israelis owe the Lebanese in this war alone around 900 civilians, with more than a third of children, at least 64 bridges, 4 ports, and an international airport. We can say afterwards “serna keet” (We are equal).

On the 24th day of the war, Condi and Tony boy were still saying that the ceasefire will take place in a few more days, and a few more hundreds of dead Lebanese! As far as 1948, everybody has been talking about a plan. Almost 60 years later, this plan still needs a plan. Why? Because mathematical equations do not have space for the Lebanese and Palestinian freedom.

What, then, makes the next few days capable of accomplishing what has never been accomplished in the past half a century? By the current standards, my doubt is that the plan will need an additional 60 years, or maybe 600, for no matter how long they keep calling my people terrorists, that will not change the truth that they are freedom fighters who are determined to win back their stolen history.

But my damn clock is still ticking on the table. Time is running. More men, women and children are dead. More hatred is born!
